Constituent Parts Making Up a Whole

I want to listen to music with you
And lie on the deck like we used to
With blankets and sun
And that clear plastic roof
That got in the way of the fun

My memories leave me wanting
Because all you were is nothing
Compared to who you are
The more I talk
I want to talk to you more

You're making me fall down
In mess and melting sleepiness
And depth more than exterior happiness
That fades away with the weekend

We are learning to think
And thinking to learn
But all you can offer
Are large words of impact
Bigger than the planet

Beyond all the outfits you've ever worn
And all the bottles of dye you may have collected
There is a person waiting deep inside your lungs

If the sunlight calls you a liar
You must be in too deep

It's time to go for a ride
So take the back seat
And relax please
You're selling yourself short
Don't pay the price

It seems like
I feel like
I think that it's the same
And I know you don't see it
So I'll let you go
Until the point where it's just damage
Waiting to grow
