The Truth is Hard to Come By

The idea is ideal
But the reality is vague
And nothing can compare
To the emptiness I crave

That's what you gave
That's what you gave

And heartache has me clinging
To a laughable belief
The world will just keep spinning
Even when I sleep

As long as I'm okay
As long as we are fine
But the insane and upsetting
Just keep growing all the time

Like a bridge
I run between
Through open doors
Distasteful scenes

Like a swarm
Of killer bees
You kill the dreams
You slaughter dreams

The example is shining
Like a dazzling, glossy show
If I could take it for real
If I could see that it was real
If I could believe in something real
Then I would never have to know

And if truth was just an object
To buy or sell or touch
I would grab it in a second
Casually ask, "how much?"

'Cause I would buy that
I would need it
If I could see it
I would steal it

That's what you gave
That's what you gave

That's what I take
That's what I would take
